Office of the State Pathologist and Dublin City Mortuary
Dublin
The project involved the adaptation and complete reconfiguration of a disused Garda Station building to provide office accommodation, welfare facilities, a mortuary and post-mortem clinical facilities. The project involved significant demolitions however at the same time retaining the character and integrity of the original building which is a Protected Structure. The new work required the installation of extensive mechanical and electrical services including specialist equipment and ventilation systems for the post-mortem area.
Mahoney Architecture provided full architectural services from sketch design through to construction completion, including securing planning permission, fire certificate, disability access certificate, through the Part 9 provisions of the Planning Acts.
The construction works were carried out in an operational station over phases in an 8 month period.
The construction contract was performed using the PW-CF5 Contract for Minor Building & Civil Engineering Works designed by the Employer.
